PANJIM: St Rita, Maina-Curtorim edged past their archrivals Vaxim-Divar 4-3 via the tie- breaker to lift the all-UAE Goans glittering trophy organized by Canacona Goans, Abu Dhabi, at Iranian Club ground, Dubai, recently. In regulation time score was 1-1.
St Rita took the lead through ex-India international Franky Barreto but Vaxim Divar managed to level by scoring in dying minutes through Lyton D’Souza to hold the match for 1-1 at regulation time.
St Rita kept their cool in the ensuing tie-breaker. Terrance Lobo of St Rita was adjudged Best player of the tournament, Roy Das of St Rita was awarded Best scorer and Mario D’Souza of Vaxim Diwar was awarded Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
