Hosts St Savio Sports Club, Calangute got the better of Penha de Franca 5-3 via the tie-breaker after the teams were involved in a goalless draw to move into the quarter-finals of St Savio rolling trophy at Calangute Association ground on Thursday.
In an equally contested match, both teams had equal scoring opportunities but failed to find the net.
Unable to break the deadlock, the tie-breaker was resorted to decide the winners.
St Savio kept their nerves and slotted home all its penalties to prevail over Penha de Franca. Joseph Fernandes, Rajkumar Naik, Stanley Carvalho, Remi Fernandes and Agostinho Rodrigues converted for St. Savio while Seby Rodrigues, Gregory Pereira and Joel Fernandes found the mark for Penha de Franca.
