MAPUSA: St Savio Sports Club, Calangute eased past United Club of Nerul by a comfortable 3-0 margin in the GFA’s 3rd Division League (Bardez zone), at Candolim ground, here, on Sunday.
Despite starting off the match with just nine men, Nerul put up a strong performance in the first quarter of the match but fell a goal back in the 35th minute when Calangute’s Deep Govekar’s 20-yard strike found no answer from Nerul keeper, 1-0.
On resumption, Calangute stepped up the attack and fired in two more goals through Nelson Lobo and Alex Fernandes.
At Nachinola ground, Bastora United Sports Club collected full three points through a walkover as their opponents, El Shaddai Charitable Trust failed to turn up for the match.
