Super over showdown as Reliance bag title

PANJIM: Reliance held the edge in the super over as they registered an 18 run victory over ONGC in the final of the Goa Corporate League Cricket tournament, organized by Goa Cricket Association, at GCA Academy ground, on Sunday.

Reliance won the toss and elected to field first. 
Opener Suhail Sharma was the first to return to the pavilion after a quick 12 runs from three boundaries from four balls. Samarth Singh than top scored for the team with 31 run to set up a 47-run second wicket partnership with Tanmay Shrivasthav (15). Milind Kumar contributed a vital 28 runs from 35 balls as wickets fell at regular interval at the other end.
ONGC set up a target of 137 for their opponents. Nathu Singh was the most successful bowler for Reliance with a three wicket haul. J Suchith clinched two wickets while Vinay Kumar and Axar Patel bagged one wicket each.
In reply, Reliance had a setback as they lost Inidia International Parthiv Patel in the third over for eight runs. Two balls later, his opening partner Jitesh Sharma was the next to lose his wicket after Suhail got him lbw.
However, Unmukut Chand provided stability to Reliance’s innings with a half century (55 of 50 balls). Nikhil Naik (21) and Akshdeep Nath (27) provided crucial knocks as the scores tied at 136.
In the super over, Reliance held the edge as Axar fired a quick 18 of the over which included two sixes and a boundary.
In reply, Sumit Narwal lost his wicket to Nathu Singh on the very first ball as he was clean bowled. Nitish Rana than was caught by Pawan Suyal on the third ball as the Reliance bench erupted in joy.
The Man-of-the-Match went to Unmukt Chand (Reliance), Man-of-the-Series: Nikhil Naik (Reliance), Best Batsman: Tanmay Shrivastava (ONGC), Best Bowler: Krunal Pandya (Reliance).
