MAPUSA/BENAULIM: Tamil Nadu and Manipur entered the final of All India Football Federation (AIFF) Junior National Girls Football Championship, organised by Goa Football Association and played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
While Tamil Nadu thumped West Bengal 4-0, Manipur came from behind to beat Mizoram 2-1.
In the first game, Tamil Nadu shoot into the lead in the 13th minute through Iswarya before Mariyammal doubled the tally just before the breather.
Crossing ends, Minnoliya smashed in the third and a late Rani Bhowmick own-goal took the final tally to 4-0 in favour of Tamil Nadu.
In the second match, a clash between two NorthEast states, Mizoram took a well deserved lead through Lal Rinzuali in the 13th minute.
Despite all their efforts, Manipur couldn’t find the leveller in the first half.
Changing ends, after much probing, Manipur finally restored parity in the 66th minute Phijam Devi.
Back on level terms, both teams played cautiously and defended till the end.
In the extra time, P Devi scored the match-winner and completed her brace to send her team into the final.
