India’s teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has reached another milestone in his remarkable cricket journey after receiving his first official Team India jersey ahead of the upcoming T20 series against Ireland.
The 15-year-old, who took the cricketing world by storm during IPL 2026, was recently named in India’s T20 squad for the tours of Ireland and England, as well as the Asian Games. With the first T20 against Ireland scheduled for Friday in Belfast, Sooryavanshi could soon become the youngest player to represent India at the international level.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared an emotional video showing the youngster receiving his India shirt. In the clip, Sooryavanshi is seen unpacking the jersey bearing his name and the number 03 before expressing his delight at achieving a childhood dream.
“Ever since I first held a bat and walked onto a cricket field to practise, I dreamed of this moment,” the youngster said. “I cannot explain this feeling in words.”
The Bihar-born batter has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past year. After making headlines in age-group cricket, he established himself as one of the brightest young talents in the country during IPL 2026. Representing Rajasthan Royals, Sooryavanshi amassed 776 runs to finish as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and claim the coveted Orange Cap.
His impressive campaign included a century and five half-centuries, with his fearless stroke play earning praise from former cricketers and fans alike. The performances convinced selectors to fast-track him into the national setup.
Should he feature against Ireland, Sooryavanshi would surpass Sachin Tendulkar as India’s youngest international cricketer. Tendulkar made his international debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days in 1989.
For now, the teenager is savouring a moment he has dreamt about for years. The India jersey is finally in his hands, and an international debut could be just days away.
