PANJIM: United Club of Nerul got the better of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 2-0 in the final of 1st late Ciabro Alemao all-Goa inter-village football tournament, organized by Varca Sports Club and sponsored by Churchill Brothers Sports Club, at Varca ground, on Sunday. Sanket Jothkar and Anson D’Souza scored a goal each for the champions.
United Club of Nerul were awarded Rs 1 lakh and a trophy by chief guest Adv. Radarao Gracias. Don Bosco Oratory had to be content with Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
Individual prizes were awarded to best goalkeeper Siddhesh Morje, best defender Stanley D’Silva, best midfielder Royston Pereira, best forward Anson D’Souza and player of the tournament Sanket Jothkar, all of United Club of Nerul.
Clencio Pinto of Don Bosco Oratory was adjudged most promising player of the tournament.
Also present were Fr Candido Fernandes, Dr Babu Redkar, Dr Sudhir Shet, Simon Fernandes (Sarpanch of Varca Panchayat) and other panch members.
Varca Sports Club also felicitated Milton Vaz, Efado Rosa, Soccor Coutinho, Agnel Mendonca, Seby Pereira, Peter Rodrigues, Jimmy Rebello, Britto Fernandes, Miguel Luis Fernandes, Duarte Fernandes, Privel Fernandes, Zacaris Vaz and Romeo Pires.
Varca Sports Club President Joaquim Alemao proposed the vote of thanks.
