MARGAO: Union SC of Valpoi defeated Divar CC by 14 runs to enter into the semi-finals of ‘B’ Division North Goa cricket tournament organized by Goa Cricket Association, at BITS Pilani ground, Sancoale on Sunday.
Putting into bat, Valpoi scored 173 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 33 overs. The highlight of the day was brilliant 65 runs by Pandurang Gaonkar.
In reply, Divar Cricket Club were bowled out at 159 in 27.5 overs. Nitin Devigkar scored 53 runs. For Valpoi, Shankar Gaonkar claimed five wickets for 36 runs. He was well supported by Shadab Sutar, who took two wickets for 17 runs.
Brief score: Valpoi, 173 for 7 in 33 overs. Pandurang Gaonkar 65, Vishal Kanekar 21 n.o. runs. Manuel, Bharat Bhushan, Nikhil and Pratik took one wicket each.
Divar CC, 159 all out in 27.5 overs. Bharat Bhushan 41, Nitin Devigkar 53, Vivek Karapurkar 21 runs. Shankar Gaonkar 5-36, Shadab Sutar 2-17, Aniddhya, Sahil and Ajit one wicket each.
