PONDA: The Bhoma gram sabha on Sunday resolved to approach the court in regard to controversial dumping of slag by two steel plants at Kundaim Industrial Estate.
The villagers expressed concern over the slag dumped by the steel plants at Kundaim Industrial Estate and said it is posing danger to the locals.
Deputy Sarpanch Damodar Naik said the panchayat has not given any NOC for the company at Kundaim Industrial Estate to dump slag on a private land near the industrial estate.
“The Bhoma Panchayat has received Rs 50,000 as donation from the said company as the panchayat was unable to levy fine on the company for its controversial activity,” stated Naik.
Replying to a query, Naik said one company at Kundaim Industrial Estate has constructed retaining wall to the nullah with cooperation from IDC and the panchayat was not taken into confidence in this matter.
