PANJIM: United Brothers and Saipem Sprots Club registered wins in their respective encounters of the M7 FC’s Spartacus-King of the week futsal tournament, played at Don Bosco Court, Panjim, on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, United Bros defeated Siolim United 5-4 in a thrilling encounter.
The match began on an attacking note as both the sides played end to end trying to prove their supremacy over their opponents. However, Siolim’s Anton didn’t take long to put his team ahead in the first quarter when his shot from the centre gave no chance for the rival keeper.
Minutes later, United Brothers levelled terms through B Fernandes. Fernandes inflated his team’s lead in the next minute only to find Anton score the leveller to send the teams 2-2 at the break.
Crossing over, Anton completed his hat-trick and put United Bros ahead but Siolim regrouped quickly and score the equaliser through Samuel. In-form Anton scored his fourth but his party was spoiled by two late goals from Denson’s brace in the final minutes of the game to give United Bros 5-4 win.
In the second match, Saipem SC score a resounding 4-0 win over United Boys Pomburpa.
The winners dominated the match from the first whistle and shot into the lead in the very second minute through Umar. Saipem doubled the lead just before the breather through Johny.
Crossing over, Johny and Sammy scored for the winners to take the final tally to 4-0.
On Monday, Lazy Boys and 5 Tomatoes progressed for the knock-out from Group A while Boom Boom Dempo and Highlanders progressed from Group B.
