AGENCIES, PUNE: Vaishnavi Prabhu entered the semi-finals in the U-21girls category of the 2nd Khelo India youth Games beating Himachal Pradesh boxer on points 5-0.
With this win Goa is assured of two medals in boxing, only the colour of the medal is to be determined.
Determined to give their best Suman Yadav (U-17) and Vaishnavi Prabhu (U-21) are roaring with confidence to get gold for Goa in the competition. Both the bouts are slated for Friday.
However Goa’s gold medal hopeful Aashreya Naik had to face an upset defeat in the first round at the 2nd Khelo India youth Games U-17 girls boxing competition .
In the Boys U-17 category 57 kgs category, Goa’s Chotu Kumar lost against a boxer from Haryana with 4-1 decision. In the 60 kgs category, Ganesh Mohite lost against Haryana with 5-0 decision.
Meanwhile, Goa will face Mizoram in the first semi-final of the 2nd Khelo India Youth Games Football tournament at the Athletic Stadium Balewadi, at 5 p.m.
