MARGAO: Verna Sports Club thumped Ambelim Sports Club 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 6th Our Lady of Fatima Cup football tournament, organized by Dicarpale Sports Club, at Dicarpale ground, on Thursday.
Ambelim SC led 1-0 at half time with a 20th minute grounder by Samson Simoes off an assist by Donald Rocha.
Changing ends, Verna SC got their act together with the lion’s share of ball possession and Stephen Satarker equalized with a rasping long ranger in the 48th minute.
Thereafter, striker Savio Fernandes scored the match-winner in the 50th minute off a pass by Stanley Pereira.
