Viva Kerala kept its hopes alive holding Mohun Bagan to a 1-1 draw in their last home tie in the ONGC I-League football championship here today.
In an exciting match, the rival teams went all out to outclass the other right from the start. It was Viva Kerala that drew first blood when Karma T netted a beautiful goal at in the 21st minute.
Mohun Bagan found the equaliser 30 minutes later through man-of-the-match Jose Ramires Barreto who surprised the hosts by netting a swift goal.
With just one match left to be played with East Bengal in the last qualifying match in Kolkata later this month, Viva Kerala managed to keep their hopes alive in the tournament by tallying 29 points after 25 rounds.
