MARGAO: Young strikers, Guddi defeated Moll Boyz 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the inter-ward football tournament organized by Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal, on Wednesday.
Both the teams started on a promising note. In the 7th minute, Young Strikers’ Hemant Gaonkar collected the ball from Sarvesh Gaonkar and shot in the goal but Moll Boyz goalkeeper thwarted the attempt. Moll Boyz had their chance in the 9th minute but Clifton Duarte shot wide.
Young Strikers opened their account in the 10th minute through Sarvesh’s rasping grounder which crushed into the nylons of Moll Boyz.
Crossing over, Young Strikers upped their pace and doubled their lead through Hemant’s snap shot in the 40th minute.Thereafter, Moll Boyz pulled one goal back through Clifton in the 50th minute.
