MARGAO: Taking offence to the allegations of corruption and the “non-Goan” tag, the levy collection and maintenance contractor of SGPDA Milagres Fernandes filed a police complaint with the DySP of Fatorda Police against Wholesale Fish Market Association president Moulana Ibrahim.
Ibrahim had said that the levy collection contractor is non-Goan and is not allowing place for fish traders at the market.
Milagres said, “This is an insult to all the Goans.”
He warned that if Ibrahim does not apologise then Goans would launch a protest.
Milagres said, “We have finished his (Ibrahim’s) reign in the SGPDA. He tried to bribe us and take us on his side. He alleged that we are earning Rs 2 to 3 lakh. I challenge him, I will give him full collection for a day and let him collect and prove it.”
“I had complained before the PDA that Goans who come to take fish are paying for 20 kg and are getting only 16 kg. Why are you cheating Goans,” Milagres questioned.
