MARGAO: SAI, Goa played out a goalless draw against Dempo Sports Club in the U-18 I-League match, at the Rosary ground, Navelim, on Friday.
In the first half, the teams had equal number of chances but failed to score. In the fourth minute, SAI’s Vignesh made a daunting run into the rival territory but rival defender Valerio Palha cleared the ball to safety.
Minutes later, SAI were unfortunate as Vignesh saw his free-kick hit the post and the ball go out of play in the fifth minute.
At the other end, Dempo SC medio Jaison Lucas floated a diagonal ball to Shankar Gaunder but the latter lacked sharpness.
Thereafter, Kapil Hoble’s effort was easily collected by SAI goalkeeper, Ravi Kumar in the 12th minute.
Just before the lemon break, Dempo SC custodian, Ozen Silva saved a powerful shot of Vignesh in the 44th minute.
Change of ends saw the teams attempting to score and have their name on the score sheet but their shots on the target never materialized.
Jayson Lucas of Dempo SC supplied two good passes to Kapil Hoble and Ashley Rodrigues in the 48th and 50th minute but both shot wide.
Vignesh came close to scoring but the latter was denied by the Dempo SC custodian in the 56th minute of an assist by Anwarsha.
In the injury time, Dempo SC’s Kapil had a go but the rival custodian left them frustrated.
