MARGAO: Sarzora Boys made short work of hosts Sucaldem Youth Club 3-0 to cruise into the semi-finals of All Goa Sucaldem Cup football tournament organized by Sucaldem Youth Club, at Sucaldem ground, Chinchinim on Wednesday.
Sarzora Boys led 2-0 at half time. They dominated the proceedings and pushed their opponents on the back foot. Sarzora’s breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Sammy Rebello slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Stung by setback, egged by home crowd, Sucaldem Youth Club intensified their attacks but the rival defenders were alert in frustrating their forwards’ attacks.
Sarzora Boys doubled the lead when striker Ryan Fernandes outwitted couple of rival defenders and beat the rival goalkeeper with clinical finish.
Post resumption, Sarzora Boys continued to dictate terms and enjoyed the lion share of exchanges. Slechi Cardozo drove the last nail into rival coffin late in the second half.
In another quarter-final, Davorlim Boys gained a walkover over Creative Boys, Chinchinim as the latter failed to turn up.
