Explainer – How the Arambol murder took place

In a tragic incident, a simple walk on the beach ended in death for Amar Bandekar on Horror Sunday

PANJIM: In a shocking incident, a petty fight with a group of shack workers led to the murder of 37-year-old Amar Bandekar from Arambol. Bandekar was taking a walk on the Arambol beach on Sunday evening.

A quiet evening walk turned bloody on Republic Day at Arambol, in peaceful Goa

Amar Bandekar from Arambol was talking his routine walk at 6.30 pm on the beach.

Bandekar noticed that the shack operator had put some chairs obstructing beachgoers

Due to this he decided to shift the shack chairs aside

This led to verbal arguments between Bandekar and a shack worker

The arguments soon culminated into fist fight where other workers joined in.

During the fight, Bandekar suddenly fell on the ground unconscious.

He was soon rushed to the Primary Health Centre at Tuem, Pernem

Unfortunately, he was declared dead by the doctors on duty at Tuem PHC

On receiving the information, the Mandrem Police rushed to the health centre.

They later went to the crime spot and immediately arrested one shack worker

Later five others suspected to be involved in the fight were detained.
