SANGUEM: Telephone connectivity in remote villages of Sanguem taluka is the primary concern of the villagers residing in the hinterland.
Except for the village hub in Netravali village, areas including Nunem, Verlem, Salgini and Tudov are hit with poor telephone connectivity.
Despite technological advancements, these villages lack landlines and mobile connectivity. The village hub surrounding the panchayat is, however, connected with landline and mobile phones.
Ironically, the major problem faced by the villagers with respect to use of mobile phones is the frequent breakdown of power supply, as connectivity is hampered when there is no power supply.
A villager Manoday Phadte said when the lights go out, so does the connectivity as the tower located in the village has no back-up support of the transformer.
Situation at Bhati village, which relies solely on BSNL for telephone connectivity, is no different. Most of the wards of Bhati village panchayat as that of Kumari, Tudov and Dapodem have no telephone connectivity, according to village Sarpanch Uday Naik.
No other cell-phone companies have as of date made attempts to install towers in the village and I will be happy to provide the desired land and space for installation of tower in the village, he said.
The situation is same in Uguem village.
