MAPUSA: Striker Girish Kundaikar scored seven times as Sateri Sports Club demolished Santo Estevam Sports Club 10-0 in GFA’s 3rd Division League Ilhas Zone match, at Santo Estevam ground, Monday.
The winners led 2-0 at half time.
After a cautious start to the proceedings, Sateri took the lead in the 23rd minute through Girish, who netted another before the break. Changing over, Sateri outplayed their opponents in every department. Amit Shirvaikar made it 3-0 in the 49th minute and minutes later, Girish registered his hat-trick with a clever chip over rival custodian Caitan Silveira.
In the 65th minute, Girish played a skillful one-two with Amit Kunkalekar and the former finished with a deft placement to make it 5-0.
There was no stopping for Sateri as they easily won the ball from their opponents. Gauresh Mulgaokar headed in beautifully off a cross from the left by Vinod and then Shubham Pednekar got his name on the score sheet with an assist by Girish.
Santo Estevam were just waiting for referee Sunil Nanodkar to blow the final whistle but with 10 minutes to go Girish paved in another three goals to round off his tally to seven goals and make it 10-0 for his team.
After five matches, Sateri lead the group with 13 points which include four wins and a draw while Santo Estevam SC are yet to open their account, suffering their fifth consecutive defeat.
