SANGUEM: In an unexpected development, Sanguem Deputy Collector Ajay Gaude conducted a surprise inspection at government offices in Sanguem to warn the staff coming late for duty.
Gaude visited 11 offices and found almost about 50 per cent of the staff had not reported for the duty till 9.50 am. The government servants are expected to be on their seats by 9.30 am and remain there till 5.45 pm. However, most of the officers reportedly take advantage of the remoteness of Sanguem Taluka and report late for their duties and also leave early.
The Deputy Collector conducted the inspection after the aggrieved citizens from Sanguem brought this fact to his notice.
Except for Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar and Joint Mamlatdar Ana Rita Paes who were on their seats before the schedule time, most of the department heads of the other offices were reported to have reached late for their duties.
During his visit, Gaude also found that most of the offices had not maintained the mandatory movement register.
Speaking after the inspection, Gaude informed that he had inspected the offices only after having received complaints from the citizens of the officers reporting late for their duties due to which the citizens are not getting their work done within the stipulated time.
Gaude informed that he would forward the inspection report to the higher authorities in the administrative section so that the functioning of the government departments is streamlined and that the people get their work done within the framed time limit.
Gaude also informed that very soon he shall be conducting a meeting of all the department heads in the taluka to stream line the working of the government offices.
