A crucial meeting to discuss the Hospet-Vasco railway line and the controversial proposed by-pass connecting the South Western Railway (SWR) with Konkan Railway (KR) at Arossim will be discussed at the Deputy Speaker’s Chamber, Secretariat, on September 20 at 10.30 am.
The meeting will be chaired by Cortalim MLA and Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho and will involve with Divisional Regional Manager (SWR) Mishra, Assistant Divisional Regional Manager Premchand, MPT Chairman Praveen Agarwal, Revenue Secretary, TCP Chief Morad, Mormugao Town Planner A P Diniz.
The meeting attains significance after local residents of Arossim-Cansaulim expressed fear over the proposed rail bypass in the village which apart from posing a potential threat to houses, churches would further subdivide the village with more level-crossing and literally turn the village into a railway yard.
Recently, a delegation of people from Utorda and Arossim had approached Godinho and had raised fears on the problems likely to be faced due to the new railway line.
