Tragedy struck at Calangute beach on Monday as an 18-year-old youth from Manipur, identified as Sapulou, son of Timothy, drowned while swimming.
According to reports, Sapulou had entered the water along with four others when the incident occurred. While his companions made it back safely, Sapulou was pulled under by strong currents and could not be rescued in time.

Lifeguards and emergency services were alerted immediately, but efforts to revive the teenager were unsuccessful. His body was later retrieved from the water.
Authorities have initiated further procedures, and the incident has raised fresh concerns over beach safety and awareness, especially during the monsoon season when sea conditions are rough.
