MARGAO: Goa Forward Party (GFP) representatives on Wednesday said that they would keep a watch on the municipal election process on a daily basis.
It is important to note that the High Court has ordered the Goa Government to declare the ward reservations for the ensuing municipal polls three weeks before the notification of the election schedule. GFP representatives had filed a petition in the High Court asking for prior declaration of the reservation for the municipal elections. The GFP had contended that there are many aspiring candidates in the municipal elections who want to strengthen the local self governments and they need prior idea of the election.

GFP vice president Durgadas Kamat alleged that Dr Pramod Sawant-led Government in Goa is out to cheat and win the elections and the court too has realised the same.
“While ordering the declaration of the reservation much prior to the elections the court has also expressed its opinion to have statutory provision in this regard so that both the candidates desirous of contesting the elections as well as the voters are quite clear about the delimitation and reservation before the announcement of the election schedule. The court too has realised that the Dr Pramod Sawant government is cheating and winning elections,” claimed Durgadas.
He said that during the ZP elections also the BJP kept its campaign in the name of camps.
“Goa Forward will keep a watch on the municipal election. By virtue of the court keeping the contentions open to the petition while disposing off the same because this government doesn’t even care for the courts,” Durgadas warned.
GFP said it would not allow the BJP Government to cheat and it would fight it out.
“In ZP they did not have constructive opposition but we will not allow the same to happen in the MMC polls,” GFP warned.
