Lohia Maidan beautification: Trust alleges poor quality work being done

Mahesh Dattaram Nayak alleges that there is a scam in the utilization of the funds dedicated for the beautification work

MARGAO: Jai Damodar Trust has alleged that the ongoing beautification work of the historic Lohia Maidan is being done using sub-standard material and that it will miss its deadline of June 15.

While addressing media persons at Lohia Maidan, Mahesh Dattaram Nayak produced documents under RTI to back his allegations about the alleged poor quality of materials used and further alleged that there is a scam in the utilization of the funds dedicated for the beautification work.

Blaming the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) for the problems concerned with the ongoing work, Nayak asked that there be an inquiry so that the persons responsible for these issues are held accountable. 

He also raised concerns about how the size of the historic stage has been reduced and about the lack of supervision of the works or the ground at night.
