Panjim: Goa Forward Party (GFP) has demanded that the children of freedom fighters be accommodated in the government service, as nearly 250 children of freedom struggle veterans are still unemployed.
“Now that the government is intending to provide 10,000 jobs, it is demanded that a special drive is held and the entire list of children of freedom fighters be cleared, by giving them relaxation in age on case-to-case basis; and upon clearing the said list, the same can be filled by general category,” State Convener of Employee’s Forward (GFP) John Nazareth said.
In August 2013, the government had framed a scheme and increased the reservation quota from 2% to 5% with an intention of clearing the entire list of children of freedom fighters. It has now been extended to February 2021. Nazareth added, “It is given to understand that there are about 250 children of freedom fighters who are still unemployed.
Seeking a ‘positive action’ from the government, the party has insisted that the demand be taken on priority.
