MARGAO: Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik has said Indian Citizens have nothing to lose because of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Whilst inaugurating a school in Margao, Naik said, “There will be no loss to the people who are Citizens of India. It is for the minorities who have been facing persecution in the countries that were created on basis of religion during partition.”
“We have to take the responsibility of our people who have come back to India. Minorities in Pakistan and other two countries were 33% which has reduced to 7% today and no one knows where they went due to the harassment,” added Minister Naik.
“Many Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis are in India for refuge and we should protect them. Why there are no Muslims in the bill is because they are already in a Muslim country and are in majority there and the ones who require protection are the minorities in that country,” Shripad Naik clarified.
“The people should know that the ones who are provoking the protests are trying to create anarchy in the country. It is in a fact our culture is to protect the persons who are in distress,” the Minister said.
Meanwhile updating on the State’s mining imbroglio Naik said “the Central Government is awaiting the Supreme Court verdict and has become a party in the case praying of speedy disposal of the case.”
Shripad Naik also said that making a mining corporation is the last option but the Government is hopeful of a verdict in favour of the renewal of the mining leases.
