MARGAO: After pollution, garbage menace, open defecation and illegal rooms, now Cuncolim Industrial Estate area is faced with a new problem — of illegal scrap-yards.
Some youth from Cuncolim have brought to the notice of Cuncolim municipality the menace these illegal establishments have been creating. There are more than dozen illegal scrap-yards at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate area.
Youth from this locality have asked the Council to take immediate action against all the illegal scrap-yards. One can see huge mountains of plastic bottles, glass bottles and broken glass, tires, unwanted dry waste material and other scrap piled up in these scrap-yards.
The locals allege that some councilors are supporting scrap-yards as they have stake in them.
