Goa police in Delhi to bring ATM burglars

PORVORIM: Goa Police team reached Delhi to take custody of the three alleged accused arrested in connection with ATM theft of Union Bank of India at Porvorim.

“Our team of police have already reached Delhi to take custody of the three alleged accused arrested at Delhi in connection with ATM burglary of Union Bank of India. The team is expected to reach back on Tuesday,” an official said.

It may be recalled that on Wednesday (Oct 21) in a joint operation conducted by teams of Delhi’s Special Cell, North Goa District Police and Goa Crime Branch had arrested three Bangladeshi nationals identified as Mohd Safiq, Sofekul Mulla and Rustom

at Delhi. While Mohd Safiq, Sofekul Mulla were arrested from Delhi airport when they were trying to flee to Kolkata, Rustom was arrested after a fierce shootout at Anant Vihar in Delhi during which he (Rustom) had sustained severe injuries.

On October 18, the ATM of Union Bank of India Porvorim branch was stolen and the culprits had fled with cash amounting to approximately to Rs 19 lakh.
