Just recently Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of the President of the Indian National Congress was in the news for losing his cool and apparently pushing the microphone of a reporter who asked him a question relating to the land deal scam of the Haryana government in which he is allegedly involved in. He was in the city attending an open event taking place inside the Asoka Hotel where the incident took place.
Noting the fact that the land deals in Haryana has been a major issue haunting many people including Robert for years now, can it be right to justify the reporter from ANI to meet him at that particular time in that hotel to quiz him on the issue?
There is a time and a place for everything; a time to dine and to sleep, a time to relax and to do business, for laughter and enjoyment. Despite whatever the report in the scam says Robert Vadra was attending an event hosted in the Asoka hotel during the weekend. He had gone in with a different frame of mind, to relax and leave all the commotion of the week aside and be part of something that would take his mind away from work. And here we have a smart chap with a camera and a microphone with a long wire attached to it briskly walking up to him with a question related to the scam to which he replied ‘are you serious?’ a number of times. What followed was an irate Robert Vadra shoving the microphone away from the reporter and also saying ‘put your camera off’.
There has to be a limit on journalists when they approach anyone asking questions about their professional life when they are in a gleeful mood giving time to themselves and their families in their personal lives. It is a complete and utter show of disrespect that many journalist show towards people whether they approach them for answers relating to questions that they ask. They should be a sense of timing and the moral discipline of respect in approaching people and not creating a scene that immediately puts the public in the limelight for poor reasons created by media personnel.
