MARGAO: Davorlim Sarpanch Paul Colaco told the Sunday gram sabha that the Panchayat will collect dry waste door-to-door every fortnight, beginning from November 8.
At the gram sabha meeting, the Sarpanch requested villagers to segregate dry and wet garbage, adding that only dry garbage shall be collected by the panchayat.
Members questioned the sarpanch on the steps taken to stop the proposed Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) project from coming in the village which is opposed by all villagers. In reply, the sarpanch stated that the body has rejected the proposed KRC project based on a gram sabha resolution, adding that the KRC has dragged the panchayat to the court.
He further told the villagers that the panchayat has filed an appeal challenging suit filed by the KRC.
On the development front, the villagers were told that presently no work can be carried out on the Davorlim-Sao Jose de Areal road as a sewerage line is being laid while promising the aggrieved villagers that work of construction of drains on either side of the road would be completed before next monsoon.
Gram sabha members were also informed by the sarpanch that all the existing internal roads shall be hot-mixed before Christmas. Gram sabha members complained against poor power supply and resolution was taken directing the sarpanch to approach the department concerned with the proposal and solve the problem faced by the villagers. Sarpanch explained to the villagers that the panchayat would take up the issue with the electricity department.
