PONDA: Claiming that Goa has achieved a lot in development and is socially and culturally a progressive State, Governor Mrudula Sinha has appealed to Goans to set a target to make Goa the best State in cleanliness within a period of two years.
“Goa can become the leading in the parameter of cleanliness within a period of two years, thereby accomplishing the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modhi to create a Swatchh Bharat,” said Sinha, while addressing a gathering on the first day of the Chhat Pooja dedicated to the Sun God, organised by the Ponda Chhat Pooja Samiti on Wednesday evening.
The worship of the sun was performed during sunset on Wednesday, while the worship of the sun during sunrise will be performed on Thursday morning. Others present on the occasion included her husband and former union minister Ram Kripal Sinha, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar, Curti Sarpanch Deepa Naik, PMC Vice Chairperson Shantaram Kolvekar, Councillor Sunil Desai and others.
