PANJIM: Even as the government denies that the administration has come to a standstill due to poor health condition of the Chief Minister, the failure to pay salaries to its employees is an example how the common man is affected.
Herald has learnt that the State government or rather the Personnel Department or the General Administration Department, has committed a major error which has resulted in non-payment of salaries to eight mamlatdars.
Sources informed that the mamlatdars were given ad-hoc appointment in January 2018 for six months and thereafter till date they have not got salaries as the Personnel Department has failed to regularise their appointment or extend the ad-hoc appointment.
The Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) has written to the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in this regard and awaiting his reply.
The letter said, “It is reliably learnt that 8 mamlatdars have not received their monthly salary for the past six months. It is given to understand that the period of their ad-hoc appointment has not been extended nor their service has been regularised and owing to the said technical reason, it is claimed that their salary has not been paid for last six months.”
Further, it adds, “It is requested to kindly utilise your good office and ensure that the mamlatdars receive their salary on priority. Owing to non-receipt of their salary, they will find it tough to run their families.”
