PANJIM: IM Alexander Slizhevsky (2340, RUS) and IM Tologon Tegin Semetei (2351, KGZ) lead jointly with 5.5 points each after six rounds, of the Late Shri Manohar Parrikar 3rd Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament 2025, held at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao.
Hot on their heels are five players with 5 points each: GM SP Sethuraman (2560, TN), GM Sayantan Das (2434, WB), FM Nguyen Quoc Hy (2418, VIE), GM Alexei Fedorov (2409, BLR), and IM Sammed Jaykumar Shete (2379, MAH). Another group of 15 players, including Goa’s IM Ritviz Parab, IM Ameya Audi, and IM Ethan Vaz, are tied at 4.5 points, while 25 players, including Goa’s GM Anurag Mhamal, hold 4 points.
Round 6 featured key results on the top boards. On Board 1, Slizhevsky and Tologon played out a tense draw. Board 2 saw GM Alexei Fedorov and GM Sayantan Das share points after an intense battle, while GM S.P. Sethuraman secured a crucial win against GM Nguyen Duc Hoa (2359, VIE) on Board 4.
Goa’s players delivered strong performances. IM Ameya Audi defeated IM David Gochelashvili (2257, RUS), while IM Ritviz Parab overcame IM Mohsen Elgabry (2107, EGY). IM Ethan Vaz held Nithin Babu (2169, KER) to a draw, and GM Anurag Mhamal secured a well-earned draw against GM Karthikeyan P. (2286, TN).
