PANJIM: A bus carrying elderly parishioners was attacked on Wednesday evening at St Estevam Island in Tiswadi leaving two elderly women injured. A police complaint has been filed by the owner of the private bus Santana Fernandes at Old Goa Police Station.
Fernandes told Herald that he was carrying all senior citizen parishioners to drop them at their respective homes after a mass at St Estevam church on Wednesday while on the way the attack happened.
“I have filed the complaint at the Old Goa Police Station giving the names of the attackers and their vehicle numbers. They also tried to assault me and broke the rear windshield of my bus,” he said.
According to complaint at around 2.30 pm on Wednesday in Poltodi St Estevam first time attackers tried to attack the bus carrying the parishioners but driver managed to escape. Later in the evening at 7.45 pm the accused once again blocked the bus and attacked it in which two female senior citizens were injured.
Fernandes informed that one woman suffered head injury while another simple injury to one arm. Following the attack the culprits escaped from the site, he added.
Old Goa Police Inspector Ashish Shirodkar has acknowledged that the complaint has been received by the Police Station and further investigation is in progress.
