Goa second in fighting air pollution

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has adjudged Goa as the State which was second in the country in taking steps to curb air pollution under the National Ambient Air Monitoring Programme (NAAMP).
Mizoram was named the best State in fighting air pollution, while Kerala and Pondicherry followed Goa.
These grades were given after examining and investigating the tasks carried out by the States for the cause of a clean environment.
For the year 2010-11, the Planning Commission has announced incentives of Rs 1,849.84 crore for States that are environmentally aware.
