CURTORIM: Curtorim Gymkhana edged past Goa Velha Sports Club 3-2 in the GFA First Division League football match, played at Curtorim ground, on Monday.
Wayne Rodrigues collected the ball from their midfielder and ran down into the the Goa Velha box before slotting home with a clinical finish to make it 1-0.
In the 12th minute, Goa Velha’s Markal Morais shot missed the target by whiskers.
Cliff Barnetto of Curtorim shot wide in the next minute.
Curtorim led 1-0 at the break.
Goa Velha started the second half brightly and levelled terms in the 47th minute through Joseph Rodrigues from a direct free-kick.
Goa Velha dominated the play and took the lead in the 51st minute when Filton D’Cunha ran down to the left wing before picking out Nestor in the middle and the U-20 player placed the ball into the Curtorim nets.
Hardly the joys had settled in the Goa Velha camp, Hanslum equalised for Curtorim within three minutes.
In the 69th minute, Wayne scored the match winner for Curtorim.
At Cuncolim ground, Immaculate Conception Sports Club Paroda and Salgaocar Football Club (Juniors) played 1-1 draw.
Godfrey Silva opened the account for Immaculate Conception SC Paroda in the 69th minute while Yamunsab Pinjar levelled terms for Salgaocar FC in the dying minutes of the game.
At Navelim ground, Holy Cross Sports Club Arambol and United Club Telaulim match ended 1-1 draw.
Dalesh Pednekar drew the first blood for Holy Cross in the 38th minute, while Agnelo Colaco levelled terms for United Club Telaulim in the 60th minute.
