NAGAO: Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim blanked St Alex HSS 5-0 to secure the third place at the OORJA-CAPF’s Youth U-19 girls section talent hunt tournament, organised by CISF West Sector, Mumbai and played at Nagoa ground on Monday.
Akshata Patil opened the scoring for Rosary in the 17th minute when Rea Pires found the striker infront of the goal and the former made no mistake to drill the ball past the helpless keeper, 1-0.
Soomaya Mukundan doubled the account with a placement shot in the 20th minute off Cia Almeida’s connect.
Anline Fernandes made it 3-0 for Rosary off Jeromina Colaco connect in the 23rd minute.
Priya Fernandes and Anuksha Figueredo missed a chance each to score for St.Alex in the
26th and 30th minute respectively.
Soomaya Mukundan scored two quick goals for Rosary in the 41st and 53rd minute to take the final tally to 5-0.
In the boys section, St Alex HSS, Curtorim defeated Fr Agnel, Pilar 2-1 to win the third place, at Nagoa ground.
Joy Hilario scored the first goal of the match for St Alex in the 29th minute.
Franky Cabral equalised for Fr Agnel in the next minute.
Sezwin Fernandes scored the match-winner for St Alex in the 66th minute.
The tournament finals will be played on May 10 at Athletic Stadium, Bambolim.
In the girls’ final, St Xavier’s HSS will lock horns with Carmel HSS, Margao at 4.15 p.m., while Dempo HSS Miramar, will play against Rosary HSS, Navelim at 8.15 p.m.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be the chief guest for the finals.
