BENAULIM: The Futsal Association of Goa(FAG) is set to organise the Goa Futsal Cup from November 15-30 which will be held at the Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim and Don Bosco Futsal court, Fatorda.
President of the Futsal Association of Goa, Benjamin Silva said, “Futsal needs to be promoted by the parents to their children as well as in villages,” who disclosed this at a press conference held on Sunday.
The league includes categories for men and women which will have a knockout rounds as the tournament progressed.
“36 men and 13 women’s teams have already registered to particapte in this year’s championship. Players from this tournament in both men and women category will be selected to represent Goa for the upcoming Futsal Senior Nationals 2017 teams,” Benjamin added.
FAG also outlined a roadmap for 2018. Top 8 teams of this tournament will contest for the Goa Premier Futsal Cup, the second 8 will contest for Contenders Cup and the bottom teams will fight for the Challengers Cup. Every year 2 teams from each division will get promoted and demoted.
Apart from this, many activities were announced from school to college level, from where will arise new talents of futsal and football.
“FAG is very keen to give exposures to our teams and players at the international level in the near future, as Goa has enormous futsal talent which can improve with proper player development programs,” said Benjamin.
