PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday has appealed to the people not to panic as there would be adequate cash available at all banks by Saturday afternoon.
Following long queues and confusion at banks, Parsekar said the government has already written to the Reserve Bank of India about the shortage of Rs 100 notes. “The RBI has said that by tomorrow afternoon around Rs 200 cr worth Rs 100 notes would be in Goa,” Parsekar said.
The Chief Minister said there was enough cash but people were not ready to take Rs 2000 notes due to shortage of change. “The problem is panic withdrawals and that has resulted in shortage. But the situation would normalise by tomorrow afternoon,” he stated.
