MAPUSA: Vagator PYSC scored a huge 5-1 win over Siolim Sodiem in the GFA’s 2nd Division League match at Duler Stadium, here, on Wednesday.
It was a one way traffic for major part of the match with Vagator PYSC pinning their opponents in their own half.
Omkar Satelkar opened the scoring for Vagator PYSC in the 11th minute when he jumped high above his marker to nod in Devendra’s cross, 1-0.
After a couple of missed chances, Vagator PYSC doubled their lead in the 30th minute of play through Jesmon Carvalho whose freekick from the edge of the box, curled its way over the Siolim Sodiem wall into the far corner of the goal, 2-0.
Two minutes before going into the breather, Omkar fired in his brace, once again scoring through a header, on being set up by Ram Parsenkar’s cross.
Crossing over, both the sides restricted the play to midfield for major duration with moves few and far between. It was in the 80th minute that Vagator PYSC once again got into the act of scoring when Nitesh Salgaonkar gave a lovely through pass to Nyron Dias, who on seeing the keeper off his line, beautifully chipped the ball into the empty nets.
Siolim Sodiem managed to net in a consolation goal in the 88th minute of play when Joeliff Simoes sent the ball from the left flank to Rakesh Vaigankar who finished off with a powerful header, 4-1.
However, their joy was short lived as in the next minute itself Vagator PYSC fired in their fifth goal through Jesmon Carvalho whose powerpacked low grounder crashed into the Siolim Sodiem nylons, 5-1.
