CALANGUTE: The Hangover shack belonging to Simon D’souza at Cobravaddo in Calangute was totally gutted in a fire that broke out on Wednesday morning. The Fire Department has pegged the loss at approximately Rs. 4 lakh. No injuries were reported in this incident.
According to the Mapusa Fire Station personnel, they received the information of the incident at 7.38 am. The Fire personnel from Mapusa and Pilerne station rushed to the site and commenced their operation. Maximum of the shack was already gutted before the fire personnel reached the site. They prevented the fire from further spreading to Charlton Beach Resort which was in the vicinity of this shack. Apart from Mapusa a fire tender from Pilerne was also requisitioned.
However the exact cause of the fire is not known.
The items that were gutted in the said fire incident included a deep fridge, two refrigerators, 24 iron sheets, three cooking range, a fiber boat, tables, chairs, cushion beds, counter, drinks, utensils, toilet, bathroom, plastic chairs, syntex tank, music system, sun bed and televisions. There was also cash of Rs. 28,000 that was left at the shack that was destroyed in the fire.
