The manner in which the episode regarding the Nalanda University’s Chancellorship has played out, is unfortunate. It is sad to see that a person of Dr Amartya Sen’s stature had to bid farewell to the nascent dream university of India. The University is an attempt at reviving India’s ancient identity as homeland of knowledge and wisdom. The onus lies upon the Central Government to reach out to Dr Sen and make the picture clear. His criticism of the Prime Minister is certainly not a ground for the treatment meted out to him.
