A large number of villagers, including MLA Michael Lobo and sarpanch Joseph Sequeira, took out a protest march against dance bars in Calangute on Sunday. The rally ended with a largely-attended  meeting at Baga.

Activists and panchayat members have in recent weeks held a number of protests against dance bars, with Lobo and Sequeira also meeting with DGP Jaspal Singh recently calling for the dance bars to be shut down as they are allegedly hotspots of illegal activities like prostitution.
