VASCO: The Air Intelligence Wing of Goa Customs on Monday seized 1164 grams of gold worth Rs 31.59 lakh being smuggled by a Kerala native through Goa International Airport at Dabolim.
According to Customs officials, they intercepted an international passenger who had arrived in Goa by Air India flight AI-994 from Dubai at 4.30am and was detained on the basis of suspicion. “The passenger
had concealed 10 gold bars, weighing 1164 grams valued at Rs 31.59 lakh on his person. The recovered gold has been seized. The passenger has been placed under arrest and further investigation is in progress,” an official said.
In another seizure, Customs officials seized cigarettes worth Rs 1.16 lakh from an international passenger, native of Kerala who had arrived in Goa by Oman Air on Monday. The goods have been confiscated, further investigation is in progress.
