MAPUSA: Mormugao USCS came from behind to hold Goan Warriors FC to a 1-1 draw in the GFA’s U 20 Taca Goa Second Division Football League match, at Sangolda ground, on Sunday.
The evenly fought encounter saw the Goan Warriors take the lead in the 33rd minute when Shailesh neatly set the ball to Junior Rodrigues, who after dancing his way past the Mormugao defender drilled in the ball to the far corner of the goal.
Finding themselves a goal down, Mormugao stepped up the pressure and restored parity in the 40th minute through Akash Gawade, who gave finishing touches to Mandar’s spadework.
Changing ends, Goan Warriors seemed more sharp and focused in their attack however Deepak Chetri failed to score time and again from handshaking distance.
Nehal Naik of Goan Warriors was flashed a direct red card by the referee for using abusive language.
