PANJIM: Registration for the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2023, one of the state’s most prestigious tennis tournaments is underway for all categories, according to Rajesh Khaunte, president of Panaji-based Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias.
The last day for registration for the open and veterans’ category of the tennis tournament organised at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias by the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), in partnership with the Gadre Group is January 14. More than 120 persons have registered for the premier tennis event in the state so far across categories.

The tournament’s open category matches will begin on January 30 and conclude on February 5, while matches in the veterans’ category will begin on January 26 and conclude on January 29.
The categories in the Veterans’ segment are namely veteran singles 45+, veteran singles 55+, veteran singles 60+, veteran doubles 90+ (min age 35 yrs), veteran doubles 110 + (min age 45 yrs) and veteran doubles 120+ (min age 45 yrs).
The open category includes six sub categories which is under 12 (girls and boys), under 16 (girls and boys), mixed doubles, men’s singles, men’s doubles and ladies singles.
“We have had an encouraging response to the call for registrations for the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2023. Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias has a long legacy of promoting the sport in Goa. This tournament is one of the most popular tennis events in the state and provides a good platform for young tennis players and also encourages older players to hone their competitive edge,” Khaunte said.
The total prize money for this event is Rs. 1.55 lakh.
