VASCO: Chicalim Village Panchayat sarpanch has urged Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho to inspect the road near the panchayat and find a solution to the problem where vehicles enter in the wrong direction, which may lead to accidents.
The vehicles enter into a small stretch of the other road which is specifically meant for the commuters going towards Vasco.
Sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira mentioned that MLA has informed him that he would inspect the spot and hold a meeting to find out a solution after the Assembly Session gets completed. There have been accidents in the past at this point due to vehicles entering the wrong way.
Pereira said he met Godinho when the news was published in Citizen Herald dated July 1, 2019 about the wrong entry point near Chicalim Village Panchayat.
Joiston, a local youth, informed that last week a motorcycle dashed against another bike at this stretch, fortunately there were no injuries.
“Many times rickshaws, cars etc run over the divider here. Authorities must act quickly to avoid untoward incidents,” he opined.
It has been a usual practice of most of the commuters to run their vehicles through the no entry road, who are willing to take up internal road which joins Dabolim National Highway near a super market. It has become a death trap and there are chances of accidents taking place at this stretch.
