MAPUSA: The Mapusa police have booked six persons for attempting to murder one Sandesh Naik, a resident of Moira.
According to the police, Sandesh had won an auction of a sluice gate in Moira panchayat area for Rs 45,000 on Monday and to celebrate the same, he along with his two friends went to a bar at Moira. As they were celebrating their auction success, a group of six persons allegedly entered the bar and assaulted Sandesh and his friends Sunny Morajker and Ravi Naik with beer bottles, baseball sticks and a chopper. Later, they fled from the scene.
Sandesh Naik suffered severe injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim. His friends Sunny and Ravi suffered minor injuries and they were treated at District Hospital at Mapusa.
Police suspect that the attack was a handiwork of a person who lost the sluice gate auction to Sandesh.
All the six accused are absconding and a search operation is on to nab them.
Police have booked the accused under the IPC.
