PONDA: Accusing Ponda Joint Mamlatdar-III Sangita Naik and her staff of dereliction of duty, a resident has claimed that Naik had remained absent during three hearings pertaining to a Mundkarial case which is pending for disposal.
In a three-page letter to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Romaldo Fernandes stated that “the Mamlatdar had remained absent for the last three consecutive hearings and the matters were adjourned indiscriminately.”
“I had requested the concerned clerk that a short date may be given as the matter was pending since long and notices were yet to be served to the legal heirs of the respondents. However my request was not considered and the matter was adjourned giving a long date in June,” stated Fernandes in the complaint.
“The clerk at the office was arrogant and informed that the Mamlatdar holds two posts simultaneously, due to which she has no time to dispose the matters. As such, I request you to furnish me a copy of the notification, where the officer who holds additional posts cannot concentrate on both the posts,” added the letter.
“Such a notification is must for me as I intend to move the High Court requesting to stop all additional posts being allotted to the civil servants as they cannot concentrate on both and the people have to suffer on both sides,” stated the complaint.
When contacted, Ponda Joint Mamlatdar-III Sangita Naik, who also holds additional post of Administrator South Goa Comunidade, denied the allegation levelled against her and the staff.
“I don’t think the clerk behaved in an arrogant manner. Instead, the clerk had requested the complainant to take a date in June as there are also various other matters pending. I could not attend the hearings as I was busy with office work at South Goa Comunidade,” informed Naik.
In a letter to the CM, Romaldo Fernandes said that the Mamlatdar remained absent for the last three hearings.
